HERE'S A LITTLE NOTE...
... that this year we have our own merch, brought by the Ruhrpott buddies from the Plastic Bomb Fanzine. In addition to shirts, there will also be hoodies and track jackets.
BTF-CHECK: RUDE PRIDE
“Havin’ a laugh and having a say” can be a trite slogan. Or your name is RUDE PRIDE and there is something behind it! Look forward to the Madrilenians with us, here is your festival check:
Your label partner Hechti from Contra Records will be running around in golden glitter leggings again all weekend. What does your outfit look like? Hahaha, we have no idea what you're talking about. But no matter, we think everything Hechti does is right. So as long as he has anything on at all. Our plan is to spend the weekend in swimming shorts. Honestly, can't we do our show in front of the pool?
Who of your label friends on Back To Future do you already know and who don't you? To the guys from Grade 2 we have a good relationship. They're good guys and a really great band. We also know the Eastside Boys, with whom we have already played shows together. Who we're looking forward to, even though they're not on Contra Records, is Bad Co. Project. Your bassist is a good friend of ours from the Basque Country. We are happy to finally see them.
What is the political situation between Catalonia and the rest of Spain? Since Spain is a fairly fascist state, this is a quite a complicated structure. As you may know, the fascist Franco regime ended in 1975. But the extreme right-wing Catholic and current government party that followed was founded by Franco ministers and close associates (with the support of Franz-Josef Strauss, editor's note). More than half of them have now been convicted of corruption. As you might imagine, every voice, even the smallest, against these people or parties is brutally suppressed. We know some people who ended up behind bars for years because of tweets or songs. In our songs we make it clear that we don't trust any flag, state or border. That's precisely why we have great understanding for the Catalans that they no longer want to be part of this sick state. Also, historically and culturally, they have every right to defend themselves because they were colonized. In the last few months we have experienced so much oppression and brutal attacks, but it is all censored and not reported. Catalan politicians were imprisoned, as were activists or just people who wanted to vote. The older people say that not much has changed since Franco. There are undoubtedly many fascists, Nazis and extreme right-wingers in Madrid who hate Catalans, but we are not one of them. As do many others who have friends in Catalonia. On top of that, they have good bands, check out Revenja, Crim or Pennycocks if you haven't already.
Thanks for the detailed answer! Now you're coming to us for the first time, what do you think you can expect? In fact, we've been following your festival for a few years and have been waiting for you to invite us for a long time. We always like the line up because it's a good mix. We have also been asked about this several times in Germany. So that it's a great location, the organization is always great and, last but not least, the bands are fantastic. As Rude Pride we are happy to see Bonecrusher. So yes, we are really excited to play with you. We are doing our best and hope the audience will like it as much as we do. Thank you for the invitation and congratulations on such a fantastic festival!

BTF-CHECK: PESTPOCKEN
The Giessen plague has been shaking up the punk world for over two decades. Now also here on site. Here is your festival check, which was answered by Danny.
It's your Back To Future premiere. Do you have any expectations? Not really. We're just looking forward to finally being able to play live again after a long time, as Tom had a complicated, long-term hand injury. The fact that it will be at the Back To Future Festival, where we have never played before, is of course all the better.
What do you already know about the festival? That there is a forest swimming pool in the immediate vicinity and a family campsite. You also hear again and again that it is a very relaxed festival with lots of cool people. In my circle of friends, the BTF is by far the most popular German festival. Nevertheless, it has never worked for me to be there in recent years. The last time I was with you was in 2009. That year Eddy performed with his former band Loikaemie. Which makes him the only Pock who has already tasted BTF stage air. By the way, I don't know the "new" area yet because the festival wasn't in Glaubitz at the time.
Are there any bands you're looking forward to seeing? I'm happy that we're playing on the same day as RAZZIA - Die Band Fanpage & Anti Flag, since I can't be there on Saturday. Musically, our tastes differ a bit now, but I'm sure there are a few gems for everyone.
Will you be staying the whole weekend or leaving the day after your performance? - Please give some reasons for both. This has not yet been finally clarified. I'm unable to attend on Saturday with probably the most stuffy excuse ever... I'm at a good friend's wedding. The others will probably stay the whole weekend. But things haven't been done right yet.
What do you associate with our logo slogan Punk Rock Wellness? You are probably referring to the forest swimming pool. Otherwise I would have answered: With a cocktail in my hand, looking out of a whirlpool at a stage where local heroes were playing. So you are actually very close to my ideal idea
Just finish the sentence: Playing with plague pox is... ...like an unpaid teaching job for which you need the patience of an angel and a devilish liver.

ISN’T IT ALREADY IDYLLIC HERE?
Last weekend we got sunburned while “making the terrain sexy”. But it was totally worth it!
BTF-CHECK: FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET
Opening your mouth to the point of locking your jaw is certainly one of the hallmarks of FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET. As well as clearly standing for anti-fascism and shouting it out in every possible way. We're happy to join in and are already looking forward to the Sow. Now our quick festival check:
In 2010 you opened the Saturday of the festival. This year you are returning as a headliner. How is that? In between there is at least an almost meteoric rise.
It is completely absurd. We can still remember it very well. It was one of our first appearances at a major festival. Before that there was actually only force attack, which of course was always unsurpassed, but suddenly there was an invitation outside of MV. Sometime around midday, totally drunk, Monchi without shoes, in front of the stage and then just sound the alarm. And then just have a great swim. Good memory. The fact that we will play a little later is of course absurd. And there are certainly plenty of people who don't like us and wouldn't let us play until 1 p.m. at the most. But for you as a band, you're just happy to be back and you're happy that it's working out. We just think it's cool that Back To Future exists because we think it's extremely important that things like this exist in provinces like this.
Swimming in the forest pool. Saturday or Sunday.
Since we will arrive on Saturday, only Saturday. But before and after, as long as possible. Actually, mostly all of them. Except for Kai, he prefers to bully from the edge of the pool.
What do you imagine by punk rock wellness?
Something with a sauna, beer infusion and Netflix within the sauna.
Is there a band you want to see?
Since we won't be arriving until Saturday, a few bands will be missing. A few of us would definitely have liked to see RUDE PRIDE live. Bone Factory would definitely have been a “must have”. But Saturday is also nice and as a Rostock resident you are of course looking forward to meeting the guys from Third Choice in person again.
Have you ever thought about making a live LP?
Clear.
Do you actually wish you were in front of one of your shows and not on stage?
Clear.

BTF-CHECK: ANTI FLAG
Our powers of persuasion to bring Anti Flag back to us weren't all that great, as they still remembered the tent show from two years ago. Here is your festival check for this year, which Chris #2 answered.
You were with us two years ago. With all the festivals you play, can you remember Back To Future?
But sure, that was pretty awesome. The concert, the food and this special atmosphere among the people in the audience. Lots of punk rockers from different sub-scenes of different ages. Really great to see how music can connect.
What do you like best about festival shows?
We see festivals as an opportunity. As a way to share our message and agenda. So that we are a band that speaks out against racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, war, nationalism, intolerance or bigotry. There are people who come to a festival just to party and listen to music, which is wonderful. But if they somehow come into contact with us there and get involved, then they quickly realize that we are about more than that. So this whole festival world is a powerful and important tool for us.
What do you associate with punk rock wellness?
In my opinion, punk should always challenge the status quo. And right now the status quo is buying, working, eating, sleeping and then the whole thing starts again. Not more. But you will certainly never reach a state of inner satisfaction. For me, punk rock means paying attention to yourself, listening. But also having responsibility and empathy for other people and the planet. I would say that is what punk rock wellness stands for to me.
Is there a band you would like to check out from our line up?
Richie Ramone. I'm excited to see what he comes up with. But I'm also looking forward to The Bombpops. It's been a while since we met her.
Anti-Flag has been around for a quarter century now. Do you have anything special planned for this anniversary?
Somehow we are always planning something. With our set we will try to celebrate the best songs of the past few years. Because we know that it is not presidents, prime ministers, popes, the CIA or other self-proclaimed world leaders who change the world, but rather everyday people. We're celebrating 25 years of trying and succeeding in connecting people and making the world a better place through our definition of punk rock.
Finally, please make a joke. What does a farmer ask when he's looking for his tractor? - Where is my tractor?
